Congreso de Familias Planeta Worldschool – Comunidad Temporal

Congreso de familias de habla hispana que se celebra anual o bianaualmente alrededor de España o en América Latina. Un Lugar para compartir,  crear conexiones y conocernos  a través de charlas, talleres, mesas redondas y juego.

Project World School Family Summits – Temporary Worldschooling Community Hub

Twice a year, the Project World School community members host a temporary worldschooling hub  before and after the Project World Family Summit. There, families plan excursions, get together for play dates, travel together and create strong worldschooling bonds with other families.

Project World School Temporary Teen Learning Communities

Access the month-long teen retreats designed as learning communities.

A location-independent nature-based democratic school, inspired by Forest Schools, Reggio-Emilia, and free-democratic schools.  We don’t have a building, we don’t have classrooms, we don’t have walls.  Our classes are outdoors and our students can be anywhere in the world!

We support traveling families in two ways: With a network of pre-selected local schools that accept traveling students, and with traveling teachers that offer year-long, individual trimesters, and short-term programs in various locations worldwide.

Cost: tuition starts at $300 USD/ month.

They describe themselves as an emerging group of mothers and homeschoolers who want their children to not only receive a quality education, but also to experience the adventure, freedom, and wonder of childhood. They’re mostly a homeschooling community, but they have inspiring meet-ups and support resources for moms.

Family Camp

Family camp is for anyone who wants to do something good for themselves. It is for families who approach others with joy and openness and would like to make new friends. They are geared towards worldschoolers who are interested in nonviolent communication, conscious peaceful eating, health for body and mind, slow down, slow living, yoga, and meditation. They offer families the opportunity to network, go on vacation together, and attend courses and workshops.

Die Lernwerkstatt Berlin

The Learning Workshop is an inter-age learning venue for learners in school, out of school or beside the school. Courses and communal workspaces cater to those who are keen to pursue their own interests while interacting with others to exchange knowledge and ideas. Support comes in the form of voluntary membership fees, starting at 5 euros a month.

In the gorgeous rolling hills of the Styria region in Austria, this family is on the forefront of the unschooling / Freilerner movement in central Europe. They periodically host workshops, language immersion courses and other gatherings. They also have guest accommodations for two families. Check their website for upcoming events and availability.

Porto Grana Worldschoolers Hub

We created Porto Grana Worldschoolers Hub in order to cater to the special needs of homeschooled kids and their families who follow a nomadic lifestyle by roadschooling and worldschooling. We offer a place to nurture the innate curiosity of all children who enjoy learning through traveling. This is a studio space which is available for recreational purposes with free wifi access, library, basic gym equipment, musical instruments, audiovisual lab, mini cinema and free bicycle rentals.

The space is available exclusively for worldschoolers and homeschooling/ unschooling families on the road.

ITALIA

A community in the making in southern Italy. A place for like-minded families to come together in a supportive environment for free-learning and unschooling. They are currently accepting applications. (Website is all in German.)

Light Hub Sardinia

The Lighthub Sardinia is a community network that creates
multicultural & multigenerational meeting spaces for people to connect, heal and co- create life together in the North of Sardinia (Gallura).
It connects people and projects in the North of Sardinia and at the same time offers visitors to connect directly with this growing community and its activities.

Unter den Kiwis

“Under the Kiwis” is the brainchild of a German-speaking family based in Portugal, offering a piece of rural paradise for digital nomads, worldschoolers, and travelers of all types. They embrace the free learner lifestyle and believe in living life to the fullest. The have guest accommodations for short-term visits and long-term stays.

Cost: Guest rooms starting at 30€/night

An up-and-coming eco-village community near Nisa, Portalegre, in Portugal. They invite unschoolers and home schoolers to join them in an intentional community that centers around permaculture gardening, music, yoga, meditation and living freely. Guests and volunteers are invited to participate in ongoing workshops and events.

Prague worldschooling started in 2016 as an initiative to bring together the many worldschooling families that have their base in Prague or that pass by here on their worldschooling journey.

Our primary motivation is to create a childrens’ paradise, in which our kids can play freely with each other and enjoy their childhoods, and where adults united in a shared belief of peaceful parenting can make friends and build community.

Manitoulin Worldschooling Community

Based outside of Toronto, Canada, and hosting travelers and volunteers during the warmer months. They have formed a stable group of regulars over the past 6 years. With a learning environment friendly to unschoolers, the ad hoc community emphasizes harmony with nature and stewardship of the earth. The also offer a huge variety of outdoor sports and recreation activities for the whole family.

Cost: $400 a month includes lodging (tents and trailers) and communal dinners. Sliding scale applies to volunteers who contribute to the community.

ECUADOR

Punta la Barca Nomad Community

This community is founded by a Belgian/Ecuadorean family who started in 2015 this nomad community in a small fishing village and kitesurf beach at the Ecuadorean coast. Since 2019 they’ve been helping villagers to renovate unused houses, so they are able to host nomad families. They believe in the value of diverse perspectives, nature and cooperation in order to support a sustainable community and greater peace in the world.
The community is welcome families from 10 days to a couple of months, in camping, room rental or small houses.

Summer camp programs in the Catskill Mountains outside of Binghamton New York for free thinking and radically empathetic children. Their philosophy of non-violent communication not only resolves but even embraces conflict through restorative practices.

Located in Deleon Springs, Florida the Good Earth School is a hands-on, experiential, nature-based learning community. They offer a developmentally appropriate, child-directed educational environment. They believe that all children deserve an earth-based, hands-on, developmentally appropriate, child-led education. They hold conservation, environmentalism, and earth stewardship as their guiding principles, along with grace, compassion, kindness, and trust. They also host the Sweet Land eco-community that supports personal, medical, and religious freedom.

They offer several local trips to explore sea turtle sanctuaries, beaches, volcanoes, crater lakes, salsa dancing, horseback riding, boating, surfing, and language classes. Stay long or short term in one of our cabañas. Five lush tropical acres on a mountain overlooking the Pacific Ocean! Breaking ground on building the Cabañas in November, 10 minutes from the beaches and turtle reserve. Site has mangos, avocados, limes, bananas and more grow aplenty on the farm which also includes a big communal kitchen

We believe in the power of community, bringing people together who share similar values and interests is very important to us. They envision our hub building connections by sponsoring local students and providing them affordable access to an alternative way of learning and being, providing local, expat, and worldschool students a safe space to play, follow their curiosity, and simply be children, giving parents a space where they can meet other worldschooling families and members of the local community, offering a space to host workshops and extracurricular events, and constantly expanding based on the needs of those within the community.

URUGUAY

Altos Eco Village

Welcome to Altos Eco Village, our stunning farm estate near Colonia del Sacramento in the rolling hills of Uruguay. Our 12 rooms range from single rooms to family rooms and all have private bathrooms. Set on 5 hectares of land, our farm features big communal kitchen, games room, fireplace, solar water heating, a football field, children’s play area, a swimming pool (from October to April), and a lot of animals. We are a fun-loving Australian family of 7 who run this place to host other families, couples, groups, and solo travellers to escape from the busy life and enjoy the outdoors with us. We speak English and Spanish and love to share stories and experiences with others travellers.

Cost: For example, a room for a family with three children, the price would be US$ 367 per week or US$ 1050 per month. This includes breakfast daily, wifi, well equipped common kitchen, access to large common room, sun room with toys and library, gym and yoga room, kids playground, football field BBQ area etc. We also have two pools which operate through the summer months.
