SUMMARY:Tashkent & Khiva\, Uzbekistan
DESCRIPTION:Come join us in Uzbekistan for a fun-filled and community-centered worldschooling gathering from May 7 – 13\, 2024. \nThe Worldschool Pop-Up Hub provides super casual\, budget-friendly opportunities to gather\, connect with other worldschoolers\, learn about the local area\, instill new friendships\, share your insights\, and immerse in a friendly\, accepting mobile community. Our activities highlight local nature\, history\, food\, and culture… but you’ll also have time to relax\, get to know each other\, and even stray from the itinerary to add activities that cater to the group’s interests. \nThis pop-up is a bit different than our standard event. Instead of staying in one destination for a week\, we’ll split our time between two different locales. This allows us to see more of this up-and-coming country. Uzbekistan was voted one of the top 2024 destinations by Lonely Planet and we can’t wait to explore all the gems this country has to offer! \nPop in for a few days or the full time. Join as many activities as you’d like. It’s up to you! \nOur itinerary will include activities such as the following: \n*First UNESCO World Heritage Village \n*Magic City Park \n*Shopping at Local Bazaars \n*Museums of All Types (History of Uzbekistan\, Temurids\, Amir Timur\, Applied Arts\, Victims of Repression\, etc.) \n*Kuhna Ark Fortress and Museum \n*Tash Khauli and Isfandiyar Palaces \n*Local Parks \n*Juma Wooden Mosque \n  \nLODGING: \nWe’re on the move…you must secure all your own accommodations in these suggested areas. Join for as many days as you’re able. \n*Tashkent – stay May 7 – 10/11. There are plenty of rentals in town via the typical search engines (AirBNB\, Booking\, etc). It’s recommended to stay close to Amir Timur Square\, as it’s a pretty central location\, but taxis are well-priced and easy to get throughout the town. \n*We’ll use May 11 as a travel day to get to/settle into Khiva. Families are responsible for getting themselves from Tashkent to Khiva. The host family plans on taking the direct\, overnight train departing the evening of May 10th (also a daytime option on May 11th). Details will be shared in the private Facebook Group. \n*Khiva – stay May 11-13. The first ever UNESCO World Heritage Village and one of the most intact silk road cities. It’s a little out of the way\, so overlooked by many tourists\, but still has tons to offer. We suggest staying near the Ota Gate. Booking has many hotel options\, including some converted Islamic schools. The host family is staying at Khiva Hostel. \nOngoing Plan: The host family will stay in Central Asia for the next couple of months. We’ll disclose our locations for those who want to stay longer in Central Asia and link two or more pop-ups together. \n  \nCOST per Family  \nUS$100 Early Bird Rate\, expires January 15\, 2024 \nUS$140 Regular Rates (a $25 discount is available for families in need\, use code UZB1 at checkout) \n  \nMEET YOUR HOST: \nRachel & family sold everything in 2014 and never have looked back. We’ve been completely nomadic since 2018\, homeschooling our three children. Some of our favorite family travel destinations include Turkey\, Romania\, New Zealand\, Spain\, and London. Our two younger kids will join the Pop-Up and will be 14 and 17 years old. \nWe run the Worldschool Pop-Up Hub and love the people we get to meet from this venture. So far\, we’ve personally hosted or co-hosted more than 20 events and have attended a handful more. Can’t wait to invite you into our mobile communities. \n  \nNEED TO KNOW: \nFamilies are in charge of all their own transport and accommodations. We will provide advice on where to stay\, which trains to book\, etc. within the Facebook group. We will also have sequel pop-ups following our travel path through Central Asia. \nIt’s recommended to download the «Yandex» app (Uzbek version of Uber or Grab). It’s easy to use and cheaper than taxis\, plus the bonus feature of upfront pricing. \n  \nADDITIONAL INFORMATION: \nJoin the private Facebook group to ask questions\, stay up to date on activities in the area\, meet the host\, and interact with other potential attendees: \nhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/uzbekistanpopups2024 \nNote; We will use the same group for the two Uzbeckistan Pop-Ups: Tashkent-Khiva  &  Bukhara-Samarkand. We expect many families who are interested in one event\, likely will be interested in the other as well. \nBrowse our Frequently Asked Questions to learn more about how our pop-ups work: \nhttps://www.worldschoolpopuphub.com/faqs
