DESCRIPTION:Come join us in Siem Reap\, Cambodia\, for a fun-filled and community-centered worldschooling gathering July 15-21\,  2023. \nOur pop-ups provide a super casual\, budget-friendly opportunity to gather together\, connect with other worldschoolers\, share your insights\, instill new friendships\, learn about the local area\, and immerse in a friendly\, accepting mobile community. \nWe’ve cherry-picked the best low- or no-cost activities that highlight local nature\, arts\, history\, food\, and culture….but you’ll also have plenty of time to relax\, get to know each other and even stray from the itinerary to add activities that cater to the group’s interests (we provide plenty of supplemental ideas to tailor your experience). \nPop in for a few days or the full week. Join as many activities as you’d like. It’s up to you! We would love to have you come and simply HANG OUT with like-minded families while we dive in and explore the local offerings. \nSiem Reap\, a small town in northwestern Cambodia\, is the gateway to the ruins of Angkor\, the seat of the Khmer kingdom from the 9th–15th centuries. Visitors come here to see the temples\, of course\, but there is plenty to do in and around the city when you’re templed out. \nOur itinerary will include activities such as the following:\n*Angkor Wat\n*Local Markets\n*Temples\n*Lotus and Silk Farms\n*Rice Fields\n*Learning  about the Landmine-Sniffing APOPO Rats\n*Countryside Trips\n*Traditional Dance & Music Performances \nAdd-on options include SUP\, a monk blessing\, cooking class\, cycling at temples\, a boat trip to Tonle Sap Lake\, or the Phare circus. \nCOST per Family \nTickets are limited to 12 families\n$70 Early Bird Rate\, expires April 15\, 2023\n$100 Regular Rates (families with financial need can receive a $25 discount using the code: SiemReap25 at checkout) \nMEET YOUR HOST: \nYour hosts are Sok\, Christy\, Kian – 10 years\, Maly – 8 years\, & Jay – 6 years. Hi\, I’m Christy\, and we live in Siem Reap. I’m a college counselor and my Cambodian husband grew up in this area and is a local tour guide. I have also worked as  tour leader in Southeast Asia for many years. We love hosting and showing off our amazing slice of the world. In fact\, we actually came to learn about worldschooling from several families who’ve stayed at our B&B. \nWe know everything to do here and can provide all sorts of advice for your stay. We’re always organizing events and trips with guests and friends and have a lot of experience in creating memorable\, fun\, and affordable activities! Our family is also really excited to get out and do way more travelling now that the world has opened up again. \nLODGING & NEIGHBORHOODS: \nSiem Reap is a small town near Angkor Wat. Everything is quite accessible from town and the town is generally safe for families (as always please read reviews and exercise common sense). \nYour hosts live in Wat Svay\, Siem Reap\, which is along the river 2 km south of the town center. They run a smalll B&B with 6 private bungalows (including kitchen) and also recommend another family-run hotel 250 meters away with a pool the group can use!  Getting into town is very easy: walking along the river\, using ride apps or tuktuk drivers for as little as $1/trip\, or by hired bicycle. They also have some very friendly dogs around\, too.
