MEET YOUR HOST:
My name is Izumi. I’m a travel writer and a mom of two kids: Sky, a six-year-old boy, and Ocean, a three-year-old girl. My husband is a landscape photographer and travel is our lifework.
“The Earth Is Our Playground” is our concept for our kids’ names. We want our kids to learn many things while playing all over the world. Our experiences taught us that the world could be more playful if we opened our minds without stereotypical filters. We wanted our children to feel the same way and challenge anything with pure and borderless minds.
Our kids are very curious about many things. We enjoy exploring the world based on our kids’ interests. Kids learned a lot through their travels. I believe, «travel is the best education» for kids and parents. We call ourselves “travelschoolers.”
Our home base is Los Angeles, CA, USA, but we have been traveling for almost half of a year. I love Los Angeles so much and like to show other worldschooling families my favorite places as much as possible. There are so many exciting spots and cultures here.
LODGING & NEIGHBORHOODS:
Los Angeles is huge and cannot be considered a walkable city. Our activities mainly will be grouped in the Santa Monica, Hollywood, and Downtown Los Angeles neighborhoods. However, most of the area in Los Angeles is safe as long as you’re using common sense. The host lives in Downtown LA.
TRANSPORT:
You can go almost everywhere by bus and train, but it takes a long time. Most of our activities will be are accessible via public transport. However if you have a car, it’s very convenient to move in the city with your own vehicle and may be preferred over public transport.
